Something you won’t want to forget!
Hey there! We come bearing good news and a warm smile! It is Friday and we have all survived another week, oh and another full moon period! If you know... you know ;)
This one is a short one so you can get back to achieving more great things! This week we held our monthly NDIS provider networking event and had the absolute pleasure of having Alison Holborow from YOD Reflections share her expertise. What an organisation! YOD Reflections is a registered Support Coordination service that specialises in supporting NDIS participants with Younger Onset Dementia.
Did you know that there are over 100 different types of dementia? Or had you forgotten?? ;) ;)
And…. compared to other regions in Australia, the Mid North Coast has a relatively high incidence of dementia, ranking second in the country!
With these statistics, it was only fitting that we had Alison share some of her knowledge to the attendees, to assist in providing better support for NDIS participants. There were lots of little gems that she shared but best of all, Alison provided attendees with a list of free resources and courses that can be completed to get a better understanding of dementia. One in particular is through the University of Tasmania. They have a FREE university-quality online course (starting in July) on Understanding Dementia. As a provider or representative, we highly recommend you looking into attending this! Information can be found here: https://www.utas.edu.au/wicking/understanding-dementia
That’s us for another week. Short and sweet but packed with great information and hopefully we have brightened your Friday!
Well, maybe we could end with a little bit more information about dementia…..
Thanks to google…. We are now aware that there are three big advantages of having dementia:
You can laugh about the same jokes again and again.
You meet new people every day.
You can laugh about the same jokes again and again.
