For the women & men that know a woman!
Welcome to our fourth issue of The Apoio Pulse.
This week we held our March NDIS Provider Networking Meeting and coincidentally it aligned with International Women’s Day. It was only fitting that we invited Namira Williams from Disability Maternity Care to speak to the attendees. Did you know that nearly 1 out of 10 women that birth a child have a disability themselves. Of these,
• 45% have a physical disability
• 35% mental health disability
• 9% Sensory disability
• 6% intellectual disability
• 5% multiple disabilities
Namira and her team offer an amazing service to this region, supporting women and parents through pre pregnancy and post birth. For more information on their services, head to https://www.disabilitymaternitycare.com/.
In addition to learning more about this amazing service, we had the pleasure of meeting Kate, a new resident of the Mid North Coast area that runs a passion project. If you know of a mum living with disability that might be looking for a bit of extra support or wanting to connect with other mums with disability, here is a Facebook Group that they might like to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/disabledmums/
As we all continue to support those living with a disability, we hope that you have been able to take time for yourselves this week, spend time doing things that you love and nurture yourselves. While we navigate the NDIS world, supporting others, we often need this little reminder!
We say it every week but, we really do love to chat all things NDIS.
We truly believe that sharing knowledge and information with providers trickles down to better service for the participants!
So, phone us or email us if you have something that others might want to hear about.
