The one thing to read today!
Welcome to our first Issue of Apoio Pulse. Our goal is to provide you with NDIS Plan Management intel, thought-provoking stuff to read, watch and listen, but also a great mix of knowledgeable and compelling content to help and inspire you to do great things.
AaaaPollo??? APYIO??? Apolo??? Alopo?? We acknowledge that we are all individuals, so we will answer to any variation. However, think of the chant AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE Oi Oi Oi…. that is how we say Ap-Oi-O.
Why choose the word Apoio? Because it translates from Portuguese to the English word Support. As long as you can see and feel our support, you can call us whatever you like!
Well what a journey we have been on for the last 7 months. We set out to provide a Plan Management business with a difference. We created our motto ‘Your Plan, Your Community, Your Choice’ and a tag line ‘Apoio – it simply means support’ and we launched the business! Thankfully, with great planning and motivation to make a difference, we (Judy and Christi) feel we are practicing what we preach!
In the short 7 months, we are so proud to say we have taken on more clients than we anticipated. We want to say a BIG thankyou to all that have supported us and can see the difference we are making. We will never turn a client away!
As Plan Managers, we love statistics! This week the NDIS has officially released their quarterly report for Oct-Dec 2022.
One of our Plan Managers, Christi sat down with a cuppa and had a read of the latest report. Here are some fascinating (well she thinks) stats that have come from this report:
As at 31 Dec 2022 there were 573,342 participants on the NDIS.
Between October - December 2022, over 20,000 participants joined the NDIS. Does this mean the NDIS is processing things more efficiently? We hope so!
The biggest age group of participants is 7-14 years old – It is so great to see that support is available to young Australians during their developmental years!
Total cost of the scheme is projected to reach $34.0 billion this year – A good use of government funds?! We all have our opinions!!
In 2019 there were approximately 5,500 younger people (under 65) living in aged care facilities, with the support of the NDIS, this has reduced by 62% to roughly 2,100. Less burden on the Aged Care system is always a positive.
If you are not aware, there is a great site produced by the NDIS that is full of data you can use to plan and prepare your business - https://data.ndis.gov.au/
